his apparatus (1) comprises a spray head (3) connected by a flexible hose (4) to the extinguishant tank and a startup mechanism (10, 11). The invention calls for the spray head (3) to include a part (25) that is shaped to engage a part (11) of the activation mechanism (10, 11) when the spray head (3) is near the tank (2), at which point the mechanism (10, 11) is in such a position that the apparatus (1) is off; the said part (25) of the spray head (3) disengages from the part (11) of the mechanism (10, 11) when the spray head (3) is away from the tank (2), the whole being designed so that when this separation occurs the mechanism (10, 11), and thus the whole apparatus (1), starts up.
