ABSTRACT A universal mounting bracket for dry chemical fire extinguishers is disclosed. The bracket has a mounting channel including a web and two flanges, and a support plate at the bottom end of the channel. A clamp is mounted on the channel for clamping a fire extinguisher cylinder in place. The clamp comprises: a clamp bracket with a centre portion secured to the channel and extending thereacross, a first arm portion projecting to one side of the channel and a second arm portion projecting to the other side of the channel. The second arm portion is longer than the first. The center portion of the clamp bracket is detachably mounted on the channel in such a way that the bracket can be mounted in either of two positions, inverted with respect to one another. An over centre clamp is secured at its opposite ends to the arms of the clamp bracket for clamping a fire extinguisher cylinder against the channel. The invertable, assymmetric clamp allows use of the bracket with a wide range of dry chemical extinguishers of a particular size.
