ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE . A fire extinguisher system adaptable to protect the engines of an aircraft, includes a fire extinguisher for each engine. A distributor valve is in fluid flow communication with the output heads of-respective extinguishers and is arranged to discharge on or adjacent each engine. The valve is actuable between respective positions in which individual inlet ports and outlet ports are connected in different combinations. A suitable fire extinguisher comprises a pressure container and a frangible closure member releasably secured to structure defining an opening into the container. A cover member, which includes an explosive device actuable to fracture the closure member, may be secured about the closure member. The closure member is displaceable between a first position in which a lateral portion therein is exposed for filling the container and a second position in , which the ports covered by the aforesaid structure and the closure member is in sealed engagement with the structure to prevent release of fluid from the container.
