FIRE RESISTANT HELICOPTER DECK ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present helicopter deck makes use of a passive fire- fighting system. Extruded aluminum beams (20) on a base (12, 14) support an upper platform (50) for supporting the helicopter. The support beams (20) provide a space between the base and the upper platform (50). The upper platform (50) is a grating, which permits fuel to pass through it. The support beams (20) support batts (54) of thin, spaced strips of high-heat conductive material below the upper platform (50). The support beams (20) also support deck plates (58) below and spaced from the batts (54). The material of the batts (54) conducts localized heat from one location of the batts (54) to a more even, lower temper- ature spread generally through the batts (54). The deck plates (58) catch fuel that passes through the batts (54) and slopes to cause the fuel to flow away from the deck.
