ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An interlayer of polyvinyl butyral resin containing a compatible mixture of additives dispersed therein providing fire-resistant properties thereto, said mixture comprising a plasticizer blend of a) a char-forming component, such as an organic phosphate, and an oxygen sequestering agent, such as an organic phosphite, wherein the char-forming agent is the major constituent; b) a nucleating agent such as fumed silica for dispersing the fire decomposition products of the interlayer; and c) a heat reactive bonding resin such as silicone resin.
