ABSTRACT An epoxy intumescent fire resisting composition for use on structural steel or other substrates. The composition may contain an epoxy resin binder, a spumific agent, a char forming adjunct, an halogenated fire retardant, fibers and other inert fillers, endothermic fillers, the isocyanurate tris-(2- hydroxyethyl)isocyanurate and a low density filler. the composition is capable of providing comparable or longer protection times than fire protecting compositions currently commercially available, but is less dense.
