ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Graft copolymer dispersions are prepared by the in situ polymerization of phosphorus or phosphorus and halogen containing monomers in the presence of a free radical catalyst in a polyol containing from about 1.0 to about 2.5 moles of unsaturation per mole of polyol, the amount of the monomer employed being from 1% to 50% based on the weight of the unsaturated polyol and the amount of catalyst added ranging from about 0.5% to about 10% by weight based on the weight of the monomer. Such copolymer dispersions may be used to prepare urethane compositions having fire-retardant properties.
