A device is disclosed, for reducing the risk of fire or for inhibiting the spread of fire in preferably large open or covered tanks, comprising storage tanks for inflammable fluids such as crude oil or similar, covered by a floating body. The above comprises a fixed cylindrical cavity as tank for housing the fluid, provided with a protective wall enclosing the above at a given separation, serving as a trap chamber in the case of leakage. The above is characterised in that the tank (1) and, optionally, the trap chamber (4), contain a floating cover body (2), made from rolled extendable material (3) lying floating aligned with each other on the surface of the fluid (5), whereby structural foam (6) is inserted within the covering body (2) as flotation agent.

L'invention concerne un dispositif servant à réduire le risque d'incendie et à retarder l'attisement des flammes dans des réservoirs de stockage pour fluides inflammables, tels que le pétrole brut ou analogue, lesquels réservoirs sont de préférence de grande capacité, ouverts ou couverts et recouverts de corps flottants. Selon ladite invention, une cavité cylindrique stationnaire, servant de réservoir pour le fluide, présente une autre paroi de protection placée à une certaine distance et sert de compartiment collecteur en cas de fuite. L'invention se caractérise en ce que le réservoir (1), éventuellement le compartiment collecteur (4), contient des corps de recouvrement flottants (2) constitués d'un matériau extensible enroulé (3) et flottant les uns contre les autres à la surface du fluide (5), une mousse de remplissage (6), servant de moyen de flottaison, étant introduite à l'intérieur des corps de recouvrement (2).
