The present invention is directed to a tire safety doorknob device that detects smoke and indicates the presence of smoke with an audible alarm. The fire safety doorknob device comprises a doorknob housing having a handle and stem portion, an audible and/or visual alarm, a temperature sensor and a power supply. The device may also have a receiver which receives a signal from a remote signaling device, that activates the audible and/or visual alarm.
