ABSTRACT A device for starting fires comprising an elongated coiled electrical resistance heating wire encased in a tubular element composed of heat conducting material. The electrical heating wire is electrically isolated from the tube by means of insulating elements. The elongated tubular element is in the form of a closed loop with the two ends positioned within a one end of a handle. An electrical connector is situated at the other end of the handle for attachment to an electrical power source.
