A fire stopping faceplate assembly for an electrical box includes a faceplate having an inner surface, and a fire stopping mat arranged adjacent said faceplate inner surface. The fire stopping mat provides an active system which forms a fire barrier capable of preventing a temperature rise on the wall side opposite the fire by providing an endothermic material which withdraws heat and/or by expanding to provide additional insulating properties and otherwise stopping the spread of fire. The fire stopping mat may include an intumescent compound, an endothermic compound, or both an intumescent compound and an endothermic compound. The fire stopping mat may also include a layer of an infrared blocking material formed of, for example, a metal or a ceramic fiber material.

L'invention concerne un ensemble plaque coupe-feu, destiné à un boîtier électrique et comprenant une plaque dotée d'une surface intérieure, ainsi qu'un coussinet coupe-feu placé de manière adjacente à la surface intérieure de la plaque. Ce coussinet coupe-feu représente un système actif formant une barrière contre l'incendie, capable d'empêcher une élévation de la température sur le côté de la paroi opposée au feu, en étant constitué d'un matériau endothermique qui enlève la chaleur, et/ou en se dilatant pour offrir d'autres propriétés isolantes et arrêter autrement la propagation de l'incendie. Ce coussinet peut encore comprendre un composé intumescent, ou un composé endothermique, ou les deux à la fois, ainsi qu'une couche d'un matériau de blocage d'infrarouges, formé par exemple d'un métal ou d'un matériau fibreux céramique.
