A cylindrical insert (42) having a recess (50) in one end and a notch (46) disposed between either end of the cylindrical insert (42). The cylindrical insert is placed within a bolt carrier (122) of a rifle or firearm. The recess (50) is positioned to receiving the firing pin (132), preventing the cylindrical insert (42) from contacting it. The notch (46) is sized and positioned to receive the hammer (130), preventing it from impacting the firing pin (132) when the trigger (126) is pulled releasing the hammer (130). The insert (46), being placed within the bolt carrier (122), is not readily visible and effectively disables the rifle from being fired. This prevents the possibility of any accidental discharge or unauthorized use. A locking device may be attached to the insert (42) preventing its unauthorized removal. The present invention is applicable to many different rifles or firearms and may also be used to safely dry-fire a firearm without damaging the firing pin, and requiring only limited movement of the bolt carrier to reset the hammer for dry-firing.
La présente invention concerne une garniture cylindrique (42) pourvue d'un évidement (50) à l'une de ses extrémités et d'une encoche (46) située entre les deux extrémités de la garniture cylindrique (42). Cette garniture se met à l'intérieur du porte-culasse (122) d'une carabine ou d'une arme à feu. L'évidement (50) occupe une position lui permettant de recevoir le percuteur (132), empêchant ainsi la garniture cylindrique (42) de venir toucher le percuteur (132). Les dimensions et la position de l'encoche (46) sont conçues pour recevoir le chien (130), empêchant ainsi le chien (130) de venir heurter le percuteur (132) lorsqu'on actionne la gâchette (126) pour libérer le chien (130). La garniture (42), lorsqu'elle est mise dans le porte-culasse (122), n'est pas immédiatement visible, mais empêche bel et bien la carabine de tirer. Cela garantit donc contre le départ accidentel du coup ou l'utilisation non autorisée. Un dispositif de verrouillage peut également se fixer à la garniture (42) de façon à en interdire le démontage non autorisé. Cette invention, qui convient à de nombreux types de carabines ou d'armes à feu, convient également parfaitement pour tirer à vide avec une arme à feu sans endommager le percuteur, et ce, tout en ne demandant qu'un mouvement limité du porte-culasse pour réarmer le chien.
