ABSTRACT A safety device for firearms is disclosed comprising a projectile absorption means which, when the device is located in operative position on the distal end of a firearm barrel, is held in the path of a discharged projectile to contain the projectile and arrest its motion. Securing means are provided for removably attaching the device to the end of the barrel, Embodiments are illustrated in which the projectile absorption means and securing means in some cases are rigidly connected while in others are connected by means providing limited relative movement between these components. - 1 -
