The invention relates to a handgun having a handgun grip, an electrical/electronic device that identifies the firer, and a safety device, which is controlled thereby, keeps the firearm on safety in the event of a missing or failed identification and enables the firearm to be fired only in the event of a successful identification. The device that identifies the firer is at least largely incorporated in the handgun grip, preferably in the form of a module (1) that, in addition, preferably forms the back of the handgun grip.
