ABSTRACT This invention relates to a fireplace type heating assembly incorporating a wood-burning fire-box which is easily installed in a free-standing enclosure. The heating assembly has a damper system which cooperates with the free- standing enclosure flue system for regulating the burning within the fire-box. The fire-box is installed within the free-standing enclosure in a manner to promote free air convection between the fire-box and the interior of the free-standing enclosure so as to expel this air into the surrounding room. The free-standing enclosure is of a double walled insulated construction which can be placed in any part of a room without any fire hazard.
