Abstract of the Disclosure The present invention relates to a fireproofing aqueous composition which contains (a) a halogen compound (b) a dispersing agent (c) optionally a protective colloid and (d) water. The dispersing agent (b) is among others a higher sulfonate, an ethylene oxide adduct from an alkylphenol or from a fatty amine, alcohol or acid and/or a condensation product from an aromatic sulphonic acid with formaldehyde. The fireproofing composition can be applied to synthetic polyester or polyamide fibres.
