An improved fish hook having a shank in the general shape of the letter "C" with an eye at one end and a barbed point at the other end. The outside shank surface on the con- vex side of the hook is flattened for at least one half of the length of the shank generally medially of the eye and the point, the eye to the most distant point on the outside surface, as well as, the most distant point to the sharp point are sub- stantially straight lines which intersect at an angle of about 5°-15°, the sharp point portion extends above the eye when viewed in side elevation and intersects the straight line at the most distant point at an angle of about 5°-15° and extends to one side or the other of the eye when viewed in a top plan view and the remainder of the hook is substantially planar. A lure attaching device is useable on the hook and includes a spring biased selectively releasable fastener of fine wire rigidly attached to the eye of the fish hook and having a hook member which selectively engages the shaft of the fish hook near the eye to clamp a plastic worm to the fish hook.
