The present invention relates to the use of a enzyme treated fish protein hydrolyzate (FPH). The FPH material lowers the concentration of cholesterol in plasma, and triglycerides in the liver. FPH also induces a favourable change in the fatty acid pattern, and lowers the concentration of homocysteine in plasma. A preferable embodiment of the invention relates to the use of FPH as an anti-atherogenic and cardio protective agent, either given as a pharmaceutical or as a functional food.
La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'un hydrolysat protéique de poisson (FPH) traité par des enzymes. La matière FPH réduit la concentration de cholestérol dans le plasma, et de triglycérides dans le foie. Le FPH induit également un changement favorable dans la composition des acides gras, et réduit la concentration d'homocystéine dans le plasma. Selon un mode de réalisation préféré de l'invention, on utilise un FPH comme agent anti-athérogène et cardio-protecteur, administré sous forme de médicament ou d'aliment fonctionnel.
