2025235 9007279 PCTABS00001 A fish scaler (10) has a handle (14) carrying a transverse scaling head (12) at one end. On the bottom of the head is a scaling blade (26) with a bottom face parallel to the base of the head and a scaling face sloping upwardly and away from the bottom face at an acute angle. There is a slot (28) in the head immediately above the scaling face so that as the scaler is drawn over the fish to be scaled, the scales are drawn upwardly through the slot to be trapped in the head for subsequent disposal.
