ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Fishing apparatus including a reel assembly for holding a fishing line, the reel assembly being mounted rotatably on a rotatable driving shaft and there being provided an actuator for selectively coupling the reel assembly to the driving shaft so that the reel assembly may rotate with the driving shaft to reel in the line. The actuator is operatively associated with a line monitor adapted to monitor selected line tension variations to control the actuator to allow relative movement between the driving shaft and the reel assembly or cause the reel assembly to be coupled to and to rotate with the driving shaft.
