ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is a fishing lure retriever which slides down a fishing line to the lure at the bottom of the line fouled on the bottom of the body of water, the lure retriever having a non-buoyant tubular wall with a slot therein to pass the fishing line therethrough, and means in the body to prevent the line from exiting the body through the slot so that the body securely slides down the fishing line to the lure at the bottom, therebeing a plurality of swivel-mounted hooks at the bottom of said body, these hooks having deflector elements attached thereto so that the hooks fan outwardly on their swivels as the retriever passes through the water, thus causing the hooks to be positioned around the lure when the retriever reaches same, therebeing a strong tether line attached to the tubular body to pull the retriever free together with its captured lure.
