While fishing, there is often a requirement for an apparatus capable of holding a fishing rod. There are a number of fishing rod holders currently available on the market, all of which hold fishing rods. There is a need for a rod holder that allows for gentle rod removal so as not to disturb the presentation of the bait during fish interaction (the bite). There is also a need for a rod holder, which allows for easy removal of the fishing rod under heavy load (such as hooked fish pulling on the rod). This invention, The Fishing Rod Retention/Release Mechanism provides secure retention of the fishing rod while satisfying these needs. This invention will provide the fastest, easiest fishing rod removal available.
