A five-speed automatic transmission with input (14) and output (16) having three input clutches (c1, c2, c3), three brakes (c5, c6 c7) and three planetary gearsets (46, 48, 50) with the carrier (72) of the second gearset (48) rotating in unison with the ring gear of the third gearset (50) and the output shaft (16).
