AD-5966 TITLE FIXED PLATE CASTING SYSTEM ABSTRACT The invention relates to production of semi-permeable membranes. The membranes are made by casting a solution of polymer onto a moving, porous substrate while the substrate is moving over a rigid support. The cast polymer layer then is quenched by exposure to a gaseous atmosphere, and a liquid. The resultant membranes have improved permeation properties and are especially suited for liquid separations by reverse osmosis.
