A B S T R A C T A fixing system for removably and adjustably fixing shelves or the like, comprises cables whose top ends are firmly connected to a wall by respective top anchor pieces and whose bottom ends are firmly connected either to the wall or to the floor by respective bottom anchor pieces. Each cable bears against a corresponding spacer projecting from the wall, with the cable being tensioned vertically below the spacer to receive fasteners for the shelves, while above the spacer the cable extends obliquely to the top anchor piece.
