A flame arrestor for a flowing explosive gas, having a flame barrier with a large number of defined passage gaps, whose gap cross section is set with regard to the properties of the flowing gas, is cooled effectively and secured against a flame flashback in the case of continuous combustion by the fact that second gaps having a smaller gap cross section are arranged adjacent to the first gaps having the selected gap cross section.

L'invention concerne un système de protection contre le retour de flamme destiné à un flux de gaz (4) explosif, ce système comprenant un dispositif antiretour de flamme (10, 20, 30) comportant une pluralité de fentes de passage définies (17, 18) dont la section est réglée en fonction des propriétés du flux de gaz (4). Selon l'invention, pour que ce système puisse être refroidi de façon efficace et assure une protection accrue contre le retour de flamme en cas de feu continu, des secondes fentes (18) sont disposées adjacentes aux premières fentes (17) de section définie, ces secondes fentes (18) présentant une section inférieure à celle des premières fentes (17).
