ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE New flame-extinguishing agents for polyolefins consist of the product obtained by reacting (1) a Bi, Sb or Sn compound with (2) a hydrocarbon compound containing more than ? C atoms or a partially halogenated hydrocarbon compound which decomposes when heated, under formation of the corresponding hydrogen halide. Polyolefin compositions are rendered self-extinguishing by addition of the above agents.
