Patent

CA 2275069

A hitch link structure for a trailered apparatus, which hitch link has a forward positioned aperture for coupling a tow bar of the trailered apparatus, such as agricultural implements and other towed apparatus, to a drive apparatus, such as a tractor, where the hitch link has a reduced alloy element content in its as-cast material to reduce the economic cost of the cast material, and to enhance the post-casting processing capability of the hitch link, with the as-cast hitch link being quenched and tempered, and thereafter the forward-positioned aperture sidewall is flame-hardened at least at its forward surfuace to provide an increased hardness sidewall surface with a hardened case depth surrounding the hardened surface to tolerate the applied forces between the drive apparatus and the tow bar with increased wear capabilities and without deformation in proximity to the aperture.
