ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Flame-resistant molding compositions are prepared by adding at least one substance selected from the class consisting of (a) oxides or hydroxides of the rare earth metals, (b) graphite, or (c) precious metals or their compounds or complexes and mixtures of (a), (b) or (c) to a com- position containing a mixture of a diorganopolysiloxane and an organic polymer other than a diorganopolysiloxane. Although it is not essential, silicon dioxide having a surface area of at least 50 m2/g and cross- linking agents may be incorporated in these molding compositions. These molding compositions exhibit a higher degree of flame resistance than the previously known compositions. The compositions can be extruded more readily and can be easily removed from the mold after compression. They also exhibit less surface adhesiveness.
