ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Aromatic polyesters and polyester-carbonates contain- ing up to 45 mole % of carbonate moieties based on diphenols and iso- and/or terephthalic acids are made flame-proof by incorporat- ing small quantities of ammonium or alkali metal salts of inorganic or organic acids and halogenated phthalimides and optionally polytetrafluoroethylene. The mechanical and chemical properties of the polyester (carbonates) remain unchanged. The compositions are useful for the production of molded articles, especially by injection molding processes.
