Abstract of the disclosure: The present invention relates to novel agents for the flame-proofing of polymers, especially transparent polyamides. These agents, phosphinylphosphinic acids, are used in quantities of 3 to 40 weight percent calculated on the weight of the polymer. These flame-proofing agents can easily be prepared and render the polymers flame-proof to a high de- gree without deteriorating the mechanical and physical proper- ties.
