ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to flame-retardant adhesives for use in textiles, plywood and paint. The adhesives of this invention comprise a copolymer of vinylidene chloride, an aliphatic conjugated diolefin, an aromatic vinyl monomer and an unsaturated carboxylic acid wherein the vinylidene chloride is poly- merized in a first monomer mixture and the diolefin and aromatic monomer are polymerized in a second monomer mix- ture in the presence of the first polymerization product. The resulting products have good stability, resistance to heat and light and good adhesiveness to many substrates.
