2054759 9013699 PCTABS00002 The invention relates to a flame-retardant preparation which contains at least an organic nitrogen compound which contains as functional group(s) one or more OC=NH(y) groups, CH(x)-NH(y) groups and/or =C-NH(y) groups, the symbols y independently of one another having a value of 0, 1, 2 or 3 and x having a value of 1, 2 or 3, for example urea or melamine, diammonium hydrogen phosphate and/or ammonium dihydrogen phosphate; and an ammonium halide. Preparations of this type are advantageously used to render combustible materials such as textiles and wood products flame-retardant. Moreover, these preparations, especially in concentrated form, can act as extinguishing water.
