An oriented strand board panel, useful in building structures, is formed by hot pressing a mat of resin coated wood strands in which expandable graphite particles are incorporated. The panel comprises a core of resin-bonded wood strands and a covering layer of resin-bonded wood strands on each side of the core. Each covering layer contains from 1 to 20 wt.% of the expandable graphite particles while the core is free of such particles.
