ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Polyester compositions having flame retardant characteristics comprising (A) a high molecular weight linear polyester selected from the group consisting of copolyesters and blends of copolyesters and homopolyesters and (B) a synergistic mixture of from 5 to 10 percent by weight, based on the total weight of said compositions of polyvlnyl chloride and from 5 to 10 percent by weight, based on the total weight of said composition, of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of antimony trioxide, boron trioxide, tetrabromophthalic anhydride, tetrachlorophthalic anhydride and chlorendic acid anhydride. The compositions of the invention are useful for the preparation of flame retardant fibers and fabrics.
