ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flame spray gun for feeding and melting a wire or rods (R) of heat fusible material and spraying molten droplets thereof against a substrate to be coated therewith for various useful and protective purposes comprising improved main supply valve means connected to air, fuel gas and oxidant conduit means and to regulatable sources of supply, including air, fuel gas and oxidant inlet and outlet chambers within a bore connected to the conduit means, continuous seal means and venting means to prevent leakage and premixing of air, fuel gas and oxidant between the chambers, a valve shaft with axially spaced shallow slots movable within the bore and seals to connect the inlet and outlet chambers, releasable valve locking means for maintaining shaft either in a LIGHTING or ON position and valve unlocking means to release and allow resiliently biased valve shaft to shift to an OFF position. Also disclosed are an improved combustion head, a flame spray nozzle, an air blast cap, nozzle and air cap retaining means and spaced continuous seal means to prevent cross leakage situated on opposite sides of oxidant and fuel gas chambers and between internal surfaces of a multiple step bore in the combustion head and external surface of a multiple step end portion of the nozzle inserted therein. Further disclosed are improved turbine drive means connected to drive a gear train and rotary cam actuated rod feed rolls comprising a shroud extending around a turbine rotor, a plurality of angularly spaced air jet passages in the shroud for directing air under pressure against peripheral blades of the turbine rotor and a plurality of exhaust passages between the air jet passages. Improvements are also disclosed in control means for selecting, sensing and regulating the turbine speed comprising throttle valve means including differential pistons responsive to various degrees of back pressure created by movement of a multiple pole magnet within a magnetic cup rotating with the turbine rotor which produces eddy current force torque of various degrees which act accordingly to rotate the magnet and air jet obstructing means various distances from an air jet orifice tube and thereby vary the amount of back pressure which acts to shift the throttle means to a state of equilibrium and position which adjusts the size of the air supply passage and hence the air supply under pressure to the turbine rotor and maintains the speed of the turbine accordingly to a constant preselected desired rate.
