FLANGE COUPLING ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE In a flange coupling at an end of a metal pipe: a fixed metal flange formed integrally with the pipe and extending outwardly of the pipe so as to exhibit a for- wardly facing seating surface and a rearwardly facing surface, said flange having a thickness approximately equal to the thickness of the wall of the pipe; a metal pressing ring fitted around the pipe with a small amount of play therebetween and engaging the rearwardly facing surface of the fixed flange; and a clamping flange ring loosely surrounding the pipe and receiving fastening members for connecting the pipe to another structure, the flange ring when so connected bearing against the pressing ring so that the latter transmits force between the flange ring and the fixed flange. - 1 -
