ABSTRACT A flanged cap for sealing a necked container, especially a pharmaceutical containing bottle, is disclosed which has a top and an annular flange extending down the neck of the container for connection thereto. The cap has a tear-out portion of the top with a pull-off tab connected thereto close to a tear line defining the edge of the tear-out portion. A fulcrum for the pull-off tab is provided on a portion of the top which remains after removal of the tear-out portion.
