A flare-tube assembly is provided that includes a tube (32) having a flare at a forward end thereof which angles outwardly and rearwardly and is generally S- shaped in cross section. The flare-tube assembly also includes an inverted flare fitting (10) which has external threads (18), an opening extending therethrough, and a shoulder (36) encircling the opening at a forward end of the fitting (10). The shoulder (36) has a recess portion (24) near an outer diameter of the shoulder which is inwardly arcuate in cross section. The tube (32) extends through the opening with the shoulder (36) of the fitting (10) facing a rear side (48) of the flare. During installation, the fitting (10) is torqued such that the shoulder (36) of the fitting first engages and compresses an outer portion of the flare to form a seal at the outer portion. Upon further torquing, the shoulder (36) of the fitting (10) engages the entire surface of the flare to compress the entire flare.

L'invention se rapporte à un tube évasé comprenant un tube (32) évasé à son extrémité avant qui forme un angle vers l'extérieur et vers l'arrière et dont la section transversale a généralement la forme d'un S. Le montage du tube évasé comporte un filetage extérieur (18), un passage à travers toute la longueur du raccord, et un épaulement (36) encerclant le passage à l'extrémité avant du raccord (10). L'épaulement (36) comporte une partie en relief (24) près d'un diamètre extérieur de l'épaulement en forme d'arc concave en section transversale. Le tube (32) s'étend à travers le passage avec l'épaulement (36) du raccord (10) faisant face à la face arrière (48) de l'évasement. Pendant l'installation, le raccord (10) subit un couplage de serrage de sorte que l'épaulement (36) du raccord s'engage en premier et comprime une portion externe de l'évasement afin de former un joint hermétique au niveau de la portion interne. En exerçant un couple de serrage plus important, l'épaulement (36) du raccord (10) engage toute la surface de l'évasement pour comprimer la totalité de l'évasement.
