ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flash analog-to-digital converter is described. This converter includes: a plurality of comparator circuits each having an input terminal; a plurality of capacitors, one of which is respectively coupled between the input terminal of the converter and the input terminal of each comparator; a plurality of incrementally ascending reference voltages; and sets of switch means. The sets of switch means alternately connect a respective reference voltage or the input signal to the respective capacitor. In order to reduce the loading on the reference potentials, means are coupled between the input terminal and the switch means to limit the maximum potential excursion of the capacitors.
