ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Flash evaporator, comprising within an evaporator shell and end walls at least one flash orifice arranged to discharge feed liquid in different directions with respect to the main feed flow from stage to stage at least one flow passage with decreasing flow area towards an end of an evapor- ator stage, communicating on one side with a preceding evapor- ator stage and on the other side with said orifices at least one second flow passage with increasing flow area towards the end of the evaporator stage, communicating on one side with the flash orifices and on the other side with a subsequent evaporator stage a condenser and at least one vapour passage communicating at one end with the second flow passage and at the other end with the condenser.
