A method to upgrade virgin and partially hydrogenated asphaltic residual oils by utilizing hot, high velocity combustion gas jets to rapidly atomize and heat the residual oil, maintaining the reactant temperature required to achieve the desired residual oil conversion with the minimum practical residence time, rapidly separating vapor and liquid reactants, and rapidly cooling the vapor and liquid products. The minimum required temperature and practical residence time are used for the production of deasphalted oil and asphaltene products with minimum degradation due to thermal cracking. The maximum conversion of residual oil may be substantially increased by combining a portion of the heavy oil product with the residual oil feed and partially hydrogenating this mixture.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de valorisation de pétroles asphaltiques résiduels bruts et partiellement hydrogénés au moyen de jets de gaz de combustion brûlants et animés d'une grande vélocité afin de vaporiser et de chauffer rapidement le pétrole résiduel, puis de maintenir la température des réactants à un niveau suffisant pour réaliser la conversion recherchée du pétrole résiduel dans le temps de résidence minimum possible, cela étant suivi d'une rapide séparation des réactants en phase vapeur et en phase liquide et du refroidissement rapide des produits en phase vapeur et en phase liquide. La température minimale requise et le temps de résidence minimum possible sont utilisés pour la production de pétrole désalphaté et de produits de type asphaltène avec une dégradation minimale due au craquage thermique. La conversion maximale du pétrole résiduel peut être significativement renforcée en combinant une fraction du produit de type pétrole lourd avec le pétrole résiduel servant à alimenter le dispositif et en hydrogénant partiellement ce mélange.
