ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flash suppressor for use on a rifled barrel of a firearm comprising a generally tubular body member having a first portion adapted to receive a projectile from the barrel and a second portion, the first portion having a longitudinal smooth bore passage therethrough, through which a projectile discharged from the barrel passes, the barrel and the first and second portions being coaxial, and the smooth bore passage having a diameter less than the diameter of a circle passing through the bottom of the rifling grooves in the barrel, the second portion having an inside diameter significantly greater than the diameter of the smooth bore passage, and a plurality of radially directed vent openings formed in the second portion of the body member.
