Pre-packaging of flats mail by mailers, printers, and binding houses is provided by a carrier assembly that provides optimum shipping volumes while requiring reduced handling at postal facilities at elevated rates while supporting both manual and automated mail processing. The carrier assembly consists of a substantially rigid carrier body (10) of rectangular cross section and includes a plurality, at least two, of generally flat, rectangular side walls (12,14,16) and at least one end wall (18,20), two or more of which have one or a pair of banding guide slots (22,24) formed in respective outer edges thereof in mutual registration for receiving banding or other strapping means (28,28) in either parallel or cross-banding arrangements for securing mail loaded therein.

L'invention concerne un ensemble support permettant à des machines à cacheter, des imprimantes et des sociétés d'expédition de préemballer des courriers plats. Ledit ensemble support offre des volumes d'expédition optimaux tout en demandant une manipulation réduite au niveau des installations postales à des cadences élevées et permet à la fois un traitement manuel et un traitement automatique du courrier. L'ensemble support est composé d'un corps de support (10) sensiblement rigide de section transversale rectangulaire et comprend une pluralité d'au moins deux parois latérales (12,14,16) rectangulaires généralement planes et au moins une paroi d'extrémité (18,20). Au moins deux parois possèdent une ou deux fentes de guidage (22,24) formées dans les bords extérieurs respectifs desdites parois, en alignement mutuel, afin de recevoir un cerclage ou d'autres moyens de serrage (28,28) selon des agencements parallèles ou croisés afin de fixer le courrier chargé dans l'ensemble support.
