A paint pad apparatus (8) having a mounting plate (10) for attaching a removable paint pad (39) and handle (37). The mounting plate (10) has a plurality of projections (22, 24, 26, 28) for aligning, receiving, and blocking a shaft (32) of the handle (37). The projections (22, 24, 26, 28) allow the shaft (32) of the handle (37) to be freely rotatable. The paint pad apparatus (8) also is also provided with a plurality of accessible spacers (30) to allow application of paint to a surface adjacent an adjoining surface.
