ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The flat keyboard is provided with a base laminate and with a cover laminate which are connected to each other. At the key locations, blister-like chambers are provided between the laminates. Each chamber contains a piezoelectric element. Upon mechanical stress, but almost without travel, the element generates an electric signal. The flat keyboard can be manu- factured economically and has a reduced thickness. The keyboard is immune to humidity and mechanical fatigue.
