A flat rack for use in the storage and transportation of goods, more particularly adapted to the storage and transportation of coils. Coil wells are selectively created by opening hingedly connected well-panels located on the upper surface of the flat rack unit. When the well-panels are not open the upper surface of the flat rack is just like any other regular flat rack upper surface therefore making it easily adaptable to the goods to be transported.
