ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to the use of alkyl (3-methylthio)- butyrates wherein the alkyl group has 4 or 5 carbon atoms, in flavour compositions and to the use of these compounds or flavour compositions comprising these compounds in foodstuffs and stimulants. The compounds impart a fresh fruit flavour character. Preferred is isobutyl (3-methylthio)-butyrate.
