ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flexible bag made up from one or more lengths of natural, semi synthetic or synthetic polymer material, the wall or walls of the body of the bag having areas of reinforcement to which lifting means such as loops are attached. Preferably each area of reinforcement comprises a linear area extending between the top and bottom of the bag but localised areas can be provided. In a preferred embodiment each reinforcement area comprises a series of additional reinforcing threads interwoven with the warp or weft threads of the material of the bag body. However, separate additional reinforcement pieces of material may be attached to the body of the bag, for instance using an adhesive, to provide the reinforcement areas.
