ABSTRACT A flexible coupling of the type having hubs secured to aligned shafts and connected to one another through the use of a belt surrounding the hubs and engaging teeth on the hubs can be improved by using a retainer band or ring around the belt and by making the exterior of the belt and the interior of the band so that the band can be slid on and off the belt when the coupling is not being rotated and so that the belt secures the band in place when the coupling is being rotated as a result of being expanded outwardly by centrifugal force and to contact with the interior of the band.
